Essay on Ray Bradbury
Ray Bradbury is an American story writer which had a fascinating life with many different kind of ideas to write stories, specially imaginatively and futuristic ones. Thisprivilege led him to inspire himself in most of his science fiction stories and had made combinations of his present events and future ones. , One example is in There will come soft rains, as it ismentioned a Nuclear war which have destroyed Allendale, California, and it relates to WW2, which had subsided a year before Bradbury had written this story. Many of his literature works had been includedin the Best American short stories of 1946-1952 which makes him one of the most important writers of the 12th century.
The pedestrian and There will come soft rains are good examples of shortstories set in the future. They are both situated in different future years (2026, 2056) and they both have a conflict which it is a great danger for the places set in both stories.
In ThePedestrian, Roads and buildings had been destroy and people only leave their home during the day, as they are afraid from night because Robotic creatures may attack them, and only the protagonist from thestory, Leonard Mead was the only one who wasn’t afraid of going out at night and he discovered that there wasn’t need to be aware about robotic creatures as they would not cause any damage.
However, InThere Will Come Soft Rains, there is a different plot about another futuristic problem. It is about the Nuclear war in Allendale and many people have died due to this, including a family living on ahouse with latest technology. Bradbury expresses a series of his ideas in this story, like making the house able to do certain things that only humans can do. At a point of the story, the house isbeing affected by this nuclear war, and the house wasn’t able to survive, except for one wall, which its technology haven’t been affected at all.
