Remembering Babylon Summary (5 first chapters)

Gemmy is an aboriginal person who came all the way from a different part of Lachlan, Australia to Queensland. He wasfound by a boy and her sister, Janet who were playing in what seemed to be a forest with a stick, pretending to be a weapon. Gemmy saw them, and told them not to shoot him, because he thought that thestick was a real weapon, that he was British although he did not look like it. Gemmy stood right in front of the kids and the little boy was pointing at him with the stick. They thought he was notdangerous at all so they take him to their house, and he told them his story. He was raised in Australia by an aboriginal group, and that he was a sailor, so that was why he didn’t look like a normalBritish person, he was dress like a nigger, and all in Queensland were quite racists. After Gemmy told the kids their story and get home he was not very able to “talk” so he could make some sounds orexpress with body.

Gemmy was taken to Africa when he was 13 and during 16 years was raised by an aboriginal group, he lost all of his culture and became like one of them, although he was white helook like a black people, he was a black man with white skin, and when he arrived back to Australia, he gave people a lot of controversy. While he was in with the aboriginal, we learned to weave, losthis words and just communicated with the necessary words. When he arrived to Australia he thought that his language might be the one of the people that were living in there, so before communicating withanyone he just observed people in town (a woman). The human conducts came back to his life so he was able to get back to a society and start to communicate with people, as he did with the kids.All of the people saw him like a weirdo, and thought he was a spy of something of the aboriginal.
