Revolutions do not only demand political change but also social change. Revolutions are carried for the betterment of the population but in amale dominated society where every aspect of life is influenced, manipulated, and controlled by males very little opportunity and benefits are left in place for women. Women formed support groupsstructured much like how unions are structured today in an effort to find strength through numbers. Liberties and equality were not given to women they were earned! Life at the turn of the 19th century forwomen was tough where they were seen and treated as property of their husbands. Women activism sparked a movement and created opportunities for women all across Mexico. As a result of women activistand their fight for equal treatment under the law and social norms women began to gain and acquire power through the forms of acquired rights and involvement in the local and state governments. With aunited from women accomplished huge deeds in 1919 by establishing the first feminist council. “The council was established for the political, economic, or social emancipation of women” (Monsivais). In1926 with having the first female judge in the juvenile court and in 1929 Palma Guillen was the first female ambassador. Women’s biggest accomplishment came in 1953 with the right to vote. The rightto vote is by far the most sacred privilege in a free democratic society and through unity and struggle women narrowed the gap even more in their effort to gain equality under the law and in society.Women struggles in Mexico came a long way and it was only made possible by those that pioneered and paved the way through initiative for change and sacrifice.
