THE RULES FOR WRITING A RESEARCH PROJECT

All research papers must be done on a word processor.
All research papers must be one and one half spaced.
All research papers must use font size 12.
All research papers must use font style: Times New Roman, Arial or Courier New.
All research papers must include the Turnitin originality report.

The following itemsmust be included in your research paper:

• The Title Page: The title page must contain the title of your project, your name, your school I.D. number, the number of words in your research project (the word count), and the date the work was finished. All elements must be centered. The title should be in BLOCK CAPITALS.

• The Abstract: Following the title page you must include asummary of your research paper. This is the abstract. It must be a concise and accurate reflection of the contents of your paper. It must be no more than 300 words long (300 words maximum).

• The Table of Contents: The table of contents must include all the parts of your paper and the corresponding page numbers. For example:

• The Introduction: The Introduction must include your plan of investigation and the methodology to be used in your investigation. You must include the rationale or reasoning behind your choice of topic.

• The Main Body of your research project must be organized into chapters using Roman numerals. See the example above inTable of Contents.

Pertinent information must be presented in an organized manner. All information whether paraphrased or quoted directly must be cited in footnotes. All sources mentioned in footnotes must be listed in the Bibliography. The value and limitations of your sources must be included here as well as analysis and discussion of different interpretations.

• Conclusions: Yourconclusions must be presented clearly and must be consistent with your plan of investigation and the evidence (information) presented.

• The Bibliography: The bibliography is a list of all the sources you used in order to get information for your research paper. All sources cited in footnotes must appear in the bibliography.

Sources must be separated into written sources (including books,encyclopedia, newspapers, magazines), and non-written sources (including the internet, interviews, television series, musical recordings and movies).
Within these two sections, all sources must be listed alphabetically by author. If no author is provided, the entry should be alphabetized according to the first word of the title (except a, an, the).

The Format of the Bibliography:

Book byone author : Author (last name first). Title of book (in italics). City, publisher, date of publication, total number of pages.

Book by two or three authors: 1st author (last name first), 2nd author (last name last). Title of book (in italics). City, publisher, date of publication, total number of pages.
