INTRODUCTION
Few countries in the world have achieved what Singapore had done since they become one of the mostrecent independent countries in the history of mankind. Singapore roots, culture, economy, government and education are the principal causes that help this country to succeed. The 2000 decade marked a new beginning to Singapore in areas of Free Trade Agreements with Latin America, Europe, China and North America. Singapore now can reach a vast market horizon with the development of the technological,biomedical and commerce industries that continuously attract new companies to Singapore shores.

Singapore Port is the gateway between Southeast Asia, Japan and China. Millions of containers are transported daily and the statistics of maritime commerce continue to increase with the years. As we can see this small country of about 5 million people compete globally with efficiency and it hasbeen proven that its economic system has been one of the most effective in the world. For this reason, we decided to research about Singapore economy in order to apply its factor of success as a role for other countries around the globe that can have a potential to become players in the International Business Arena.

With the completion of our International Business final project we would like todemonstrate how and why Singapore is now one of the countries that with short time as an independent state have become a model of envy for other countries in the world. In our research we will address the following questions:

* How Singapore as a third world country became one of the greatest nations of our generation?
* What factors contributed to the development of Singapore instructural matters that pertain to government, industry, economy and culture?
* How Singapore is managing to perform effectively in the global economy?
* What are the core competencies of Singapore industry?
* What are Singapore bases for development?
* Analyze Singapore transition phases between a poor manufacturing system to one of the best manufacturers of technological andmedical devices.
* Apply Singapore success factors to countries that posses similar characteristics in Latin America and Africa.
* Explain Singapore culture: The creation of a working class culture and a rigid norm system.
* Address the transformation cycle of Singapore from its beginning until the celebration of their 45 years of independent life.

BRIEF OVERVIEW SINGAPORE HISTORYThe Origins of the Island of Singapore
Singapore name is referred as the “island at the end of the peninsula”. Even though little is known about the early history of the island some Chinese writings dating from the third century speak of the site now occupied Singapore as reference to Luo Pu-Chung. In the 14th century, the island becomes part of the Sri Vijaya empire under the name of Temasek,the "city of the sea". Its location at the junction of the sea lanes became a stopping place for ships throughout the region. Singapore was prosperous for a while, but then the good times declined.
