Why threatening your life and those of others? Is it to please a vice? Or is it just to look cool? Smoking is more than just a habit, it effects in your body in many negative ways, andnot only yours but everyone’s around you through second-hand smoke. It affects your health, your immune system, your appearance…

Carbon monoxide, tar and nicotine are some examples of thechemicals we find in cigarettes. All of those chemicals can cause many life-threatening diseases: lung diseases, brain damage, heart failure and also increase your chances of cancer. Besides, smoking canconfuse and deteriorate cells in the body. Furthermore, second-hand smoke is almost worse than people smoking themselves. A non-smoker breathing second-hand smoke is exposed to around 3.700 differentchemicals which can be poisonous and cancer-causing, such as formaldehyde.

People who smoke are exposed to impair their appearance: their teeth become yellow; wrinkles appear on their skin; andthe smell of their breath turns pretty unpleasant. Additionally, smoking could be an economical problem. When people develop a dependency to cigarettes, they wouldn’t leave smoking even if they wanted,and that means a pack of cigarettes daily for at least. Suppose each package costs about $30; per month it would be almost $1000.

Some friends of mine often say that smoking give them pleasure.Even though I disagree with them, I tried smoking around two weeks. I did the same things they did, but I did not find any pleasure on it. Others friends say smoking takes stress away or make themforget for a while what worry them. There’s a quote which explain that feeling:

“The wrencheded one is, the more one smokes; and the more one smokes, the wrencheded one gets,- a vicious circle.” –George du Maurier, Peter Ibbetson.

Maybe it’s just a personal habit; some people like it, some people do not. But definitely it damages all of us. If you smoke, think about the consequences it...
