SUGGESTIONS FOR PREPARING A POSTER

Structure
The poster should have a logical sequence, which normally goes from left to right and from the top down. The reader usually starts the reading in the upper left corner and ends up in the lower right corner. If you distribute the diverse sections by bearing in mind this tip, will help you to designthe poster.
Title

The title should identify and accurately reflect the subject of work. It must be specific and exact: Should include the maximum of information in the minimum number of words, avoiding the use of abbreviations, acronyms, as well as the use of jargon.

Author and affiliation
Author’s name should be identified clearly and accompanied by the registration number.Affiliation means in this case, the name of the unit and the University.
Sections
The content of each section will vary depending on the type of information that is being presented. The following indications are given as guideline:
* Introduction: should be short. It serves to familiarize the reader with the subject. Aspects you should consider are: a) brief description of the house, antecedents,information to prepare the reader.
* Methodology: this section must allow the reader to evaluate the way in how you have carried out the work. You should describe briefly, what have you done to obtain, collect and analyse the information that you are presenting, for example… have you visited the house? What have you considered, what you have seen, what have you done, etc?
* Results:include a summary of the results, once analysed. Practically your poster is based on the documentation of your findings. Select the most relevant data of the study, avoiding too long and boring texts, with too much data. The use of charts, diagrams, drawings, sketches, pictures, etc, are crucial.

The poster is a suitable mean for the use ofgraphical resources. For this reason, find the right balance between text and images in gran size to the “success” of the poster. Any type of graphic representation (figures, photographs, drawings) should be of very good quality (otherwise it is better to not include them in the poster). Figures (diagrams,) may be the best way to present data, summarize information, and communicate it. In some cases,a well-structured chart can do these same functions. They must be simple and have a good size able to be read them. The colour, when used, add them certain impact. It can be useful to include schemes that facilitate the understanding of concepts. 3D and 2D drawings are a powerful tool resource.

Format
The following suggestions are not a strictrule but they might instruct during the design of a poster. In any case, the last decision is always taken by the author according to his/her tastes and interests. This information is based in the experience and advices of graphic professional.
1. Type and font size
Do not use only capital letters. When we read, we identify forms; If the letters are very similar, it is harder todistinguish them. Use “simple” font types, like for example, Arial or Helvetic, and do not use more than two different types in the poster. Take care when justifying the text (sometimes when the text is justified on both sides there could be left large blank spaces between words)
* Title: it has to be able to read well; once finished the poster, it should be checked and see if it looks really good.Recommendation: title in bold. Size at least 36 points. Keeping a proportion with the rest of the text on the poster.
* Name of authors, affiliation and headings of the sections: smaller than the title. Recommendation: use bold. Size: 30 points (or more).
* Sub-Headings of the sections: smaller than the section headings. Recommendation: use Bold. Size 24 points (or more).
