This book report is written for our teacher Alejandra Alarcón for the Literature Workshop class. This book is called “Vanity Fair” by William Makepeace Thackeray. The Publisher is Black Cat, The book has four or five pages of each chapter throughout the book has 144exercises. The first print was printed in Italy by Litoprint, Genoa. The edition that we are reading is Black Cat Publishing, an imprint of Cideb Editrice, Genoa, Canterbury 2004.

We decided to read this book because this book was requested by the school, but I already finished Vanity Fair and I think that it is an interesting book.

Vanity Fair is a novel with a lot of values, that the people do andthink during the pre-Victorian time and the war.
There are two important characters in the novel the main one is Rebecca Sharp (Becky), as our point of view she is trying to get out from a life of suffering and humiliation and she is willing to do what ever it takes to accomplish her mission. The other important character is Amelia Sedley (Emmy) she is a good woman with a good heart, she hashad everything, she wanted until her life changes, her husband George is being untrue to her and she refuses to admit that, because of her vanity, Amelia goes from richness to poverty, but she is good and at the end despite of everything. She marries and finds happiness. On the other hand Rebecca becomes wealthy but when Rawdon discovers that she is being unfaithful to him she looses everything, shelooses love and a partner after that she lives well doing charity for the rest of her life, she doesn't have love but she has the money to survive.

Our final thoughts are that this book is talking about vanities that most human being have . We think it is a good book because we could see good and bad, black and white, happiness and worries and the most of all vanities(ambition, social class, greed, money etc.) Money is important for survival, but we shouldn't make it the most important thing in life like Mr. Osborne who disowns his son for having married a ruined man’s daughter, or like Becky, we can loose our family and love . We recommend this book to others because it is a good book that makes you recognize and see values in people. There are other four characters that are equallyimportant in this story. Start with Rawdon Crawley the younger son of Sir Pitt Crawley by his first wife. His only interested in life is having a good time, he only cares have fun, hang out, is a very vain man cares too much what other people think about him and of course interested in money, Becky love with him. Continue with George Osborne the son of Mr. Osborne, a vain young officer who likesbeing with important people, he wants to married with Amelia Sedley for money and social position not because the love, is a handsome man and takes advantage of that and in important meetings appears be someone who is no. Go on with Capitan William Dobbin the devoted friend of George Osborne and Amelia Sedley, a consistently good character, he is one of the noblest characters of history is notinterested in the money that is rich and clear ideas moves towards other aspects, is a friendly and helpful man and is in love with Amelia Sedley by as it is and not for her money. Finally we found Joseph Sedley (Jos) the older brother of Amelia, he is a vain, fat man who has just returned from India, Jos is a shy man therefore is not handsome and is fat, although belongs to a wealthy family is notsatisfied with what he have is too ambitious, has trouble talking to women and then ridicules with their actions. What these four men have in common? Money, since ancient times the money has been the basis of happiness for many.
Vanity Fair talks about two girls who have just graduated, Becky Sharp and Amelia Sedley, one is very different from the other, Becky is a young woman who is very poor but...
