Assignment

1. What is task and why should we involve studentsin this type of activities?
A task is an activity where the target language is used by the learner for a communicative purpose (goal) in order to achieve an outcome
A task is a goal orientedcommunicative activity with a specific outcome and a clear purpose, where the emphasis is on exchanging meanings not producing specific language forms

2. What are the components of the TBL framework?Describe and exemplify as necessary
-Pre-task
Introduction to topic and task. In the pre-task, the teacher will present what will be expected of the students in the task phase. Students would beencouraged to use what they are comfortable with in order to complete the task and the text or recording to achieve familiarity with the topic lexis, and a short pre-task activity. -Task cycle:Encourages a holistic use of language, often supported by further exposure in the form of a text or a task recording.
-Task
Students perform the task in pairs or small groups, in which the use of the targetlanguage helps acquisition of new forms, and allows students to use all the language they have gathered
Teacher doesn´t teach but monitors, doesn’t correct, observes without interfering, encourages,stop the task when most are finished, and comments briefly on content
-Planning
Having completed the task, students prepare the report for the whole class (orally or in writing), how they did thetask, what they decided or discovered. Teacher is a linguistic adviser, gives feedback, helps students to correct, rephrases, rehearses, and/or drafts a written report

-Report
Some groups reportthe task to the class. Here the teacher may provide written or oral feedback on content and form, and the students observing may do the same. Teacher links the contributions, sums up.
