MEXICAN MUSIC

Talking about the culture of a country can be infer by answering tree questions: first what do they eat?, then what do they wear? and how do they celebrate? but in the case ofMexico I can add ne more question: what do we listen to?. In other words music is something that can give us an impression of the culture and traditions of a specific region.

In the case ofMexican music has been transformed and has had to many styles:

For example in the AZTEC TIMES the music was an important part of Aztecs religious ceremonies and they used a lot of instruments like:shells and cylindrical pieces of wood.

Then the traditional folk music includes: sones, boleros, mariachi and cumbia. The CUMBIA for example wasn’t created here but when it was introduced in Mexicowas quickly adapted to the local taste.

The MARIACHI is a music genre that no need introduction because is one of the most representative Mexican music by the way they are the bands that wear charrosuits and I read about it and it began in Jalisco to be played in weddings.

After the introduction of Mariachi, Ranchera was the style of music that Norteño bands used to play. NORTENO is a genrewhich has a lot of fans in Mexico and USA and I think it is because in USA live to many immigrants so they feel like living in Mexico.

Then some years later were created the CORRIDOS. TheCorridos were the popular music of the Mexican Revolution; they describe unofficial versions of history and current event and it is because they are composed by rural and urban classes of people.

Thentalking about MODERN MUSIC we have Mexican ROCK which rapidly became popular but obviously during the PRI government most of rock bands were forced to appeared underground. However many Mexican bandswent to the surface and popular rock bands like Los Heroes del Silencio, Caifanes, etc.
