Chapter one: The Sound of the Shell
The chapter one begins by saying that a blond boy is on an island trying to explore the place but while he is doing so,he meets a fat boy with glasses.
They start to speak and the fat boy asks the blond boy where the other children are and if there are any grown-ups on the island. The blond boy answers him that maybethere aren´t any grown-ups anywhere and the fat boy starts to do suppositions about the plane accident and how they could have arrived to the island.
Afterwards, the fat boy asks the blond boy hisname and he answers that his name is Ralph. The fat boy thought that Ralph would ask him his name too, but he wouldn´t.
After begin exploring the island for a while, the fat boy says to Ralph that itwould be a good idea to do a meeting to know all the other guys and their names. Then, the fat boy with a little shame tells Ralph: “I don´t care what they call me, long as they don´t call me whatthey used to call me at school”. Ralph could not resist asking him what they used to call in his school and the fat boy tells him that they used to call him “Piggy”. Ralph could not stop laughing whilehe was shouting “Piggy” “Piggy”.
Later on, they discover a lagoon near a platform and finally they swim and at the same time they ask questions about their lives. Piggy lived with his aunt andRalph´s father is in the navy and he is very confident that he will rescue them.
Soon after, they find a shell and Ralph begins to use it with Piggy´s help because he tells him that he must blow with hisabdomen. Eventually, Ralph gets to blow the shell correctly causing a big roar. At the moment that the other children hear this, they run to Ralph and Piggy.
First, Johnny and the twins (Sam andEric) appear. Subsequently, appear a group of boys with the same uniform marching in step.
