THE MANHATTAN PROJECT

The Manhattan Project is the code name for the research facility established by EE.UU. It started in 1939 and it finished in 1946.
Itwas a project invented to create the atomic bomb before Germany, it started because Einstein sent a letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt, the president of America in thatmoment, who approved the project.
The problem in the creation of the nuclear bomb was the lack of material.
Due to it’s the nature the nuclear bomb couldn’tcompete with other priorities of the army in time of war, like the steel demand, that caused delay. But the Manhattan project achieved its target to produce the firstatomic bomb in two years and three months.
The Manhattan project stopped its research a time after the exploded bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It stopped because thebombs had many defects.
There were 100.000 immediate deaths from the bomb.
In Hiroshima deaths in total were 85.000 plus another 70.000 injured and died later. InNagasaki deaths in total were 157.071.
The explosion left like a result the acid rain that has radioactive particles. Also it left eye diseases, liver problems, andepidermal lesions in the genital apparatus.
The explosion has another lethal affect hidden, it will affect the future generations, it’s the leukemia that istransmitted to the descents of the survivors.
In this moment the consequences are destruction of the ozone layer and radioactive contamination.
A time later the SovietUnion developed an atomic bomb. With this new weapon they could destroy entire cities and civilizations.
Because of this the atomic arms race and cold war began.
