The Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner
Our life is full of good or bad action that we make. We know that if we act wrong, we will be punished either for God or for any superior forced that we believein. Nature is one of God’s biggest creations that is why we call it “Mother Nature”. When we do something against God we will have to suffer the consequence, but we also have the opportunity to redeemourselves; we will just need to be aware of what we have done and if we are truly regret we can ask God for forgiveness knowing that we need to change and do not make the same mistake again. This poemis focus on the relationship between human beings and nature, and how everything we do will have either a positive or negative consequence that we will have to live with.
God create nature as theorigin of life. Everything that is included on it should be respect and valued. In The Poem Of The Ancient Mariner the old mariner betrayed mother nature by killing one of his creatures. A very specialbird call Albatross. For sailors the presence of the Albatross in their adventures symbolize good weather and safe trips, but for the old mariner the bird did not mean anything so he killed him and hewas fine with that until he heard the sailors said: “And a good south wind sprung up behind; The Albatross did follow, And every day, for food or play, came to the mariner’s hollo ! ” (Coleridgelines 68-71). Then the old mariner was surprised, they think that because he shot the Albatross now Mother Nature will act against them, but even thought he saw the fear in the sailors face he did notgive any kind of explanation for why he did, he was not regret of his crime “ And I have done a hellish thing, and it would work’em woe: for all averred, I had killed the bird that brought the fog andmist.
