They called lathe a set of machines and machine tools for geometric form ofrevolution. These machine tools operate by rotating the workpiece (subject to the spindle or fixed between the centering points) while one or more cutting toolsare driven in a regulated movement forward against the surface of the workpiece, cutting chip under conditions suitable machining technology. Since thebeginning of the Industrial Revolution, the lathe has become a basic machine in the industrial process of machining.
The cutting tool is mounted on a carriagewhich moves on guides or rails parallel to the axis of rotation of the workpiece that is machined, called the Z axis, this is another car thatmoves along the X axis in a radial direction the part is machined, and there may be a third car called charriot that can be tilted to make cones, and whichsupports the tool turret
