Didactic Unit: The Face of the house.
The Place.
We prepare this unit thinking in a country area school, to beprecise in Vega – La Camocha in a small neighborhood of Gijón. This neighborhood is 5 kilometers far from the center of the town, its place in the mountain near an old mine; round the school there area lot of parks, gardens and fields. Houses round the school were property of the mining that worked in the old mine; now we can find a pair of housings and one pairs more in construction.
TheJacinto Benavente School has the great luck to have a large expanse where, apart from the school building, children have a great quantity of different types of trees, flowers and plants; wideplaygrounds and sportive areas.
Near the school children have the center of the neighborhood, here they can find most types of houses we’re going to talk about, and so we are going to use thisopportunity and imagine we can take our students to see by himself the types of houses.
The level
Taking into a count the level of the school we prepare this unit for second level of primary, to beprecise for 4th year children, but we think it could be for 5th too.
In one lesson of our unit we use and explain the past time, we think that this children have to be prepare to understand anduse this verbal time, they began to study English when they were in nursery school, with lower level obviously; and they don’t left the language in the next years, so they are ready enough to studypast time and use it in expressions and compositions.
The Temporality
We prepare our lesson taking into account the classes are about 45 or 50 minutes long.
In our first lesson weorganize a visit to the middle of the neighborhood, we’d foresee the duration of the visit, including the way to the city and the way back. The school is not far from the neighborhood, it only takes 5...
