Abstract
Background—Bacterial vaginosis frequently persists aftertreatment. The role of newly defined bacterial vaginosis-associated bacteria (BVAB), with specificity ≥97% for this condition, has not been assessed. Objective—Define risks for bacterial vaginosis persistence, including pre-treatment detection of specific vaginal bacteria, among women reporting sex with other women. Design—Observational cohort study. Setting—University-based research clinic.Patients—335 women 16–29 years-old reporting sex with ≥1 woman in the prior year recruited through advertisements and provider referral.
