Venezuela
DANGEROUS ANGEL was a much-improved second whendropped to this level April 22nd. Blinkers go on for Vladimir Cerin, who strikes at 23 percent with a ROI of $2.28 when he uses Pat Valenzuela. FAVORABLE has a 1:12 work for Richard Mandella in preparation for her racing debut. The Rockport Harbor filly is a half sister of double stakes winner Man Among Men and lures Joel Rosario. As the name indicates, EVITA'S SISTER is a full sister to 5-timestakes winner Evita Argentina, which bets the question; why is she in a $50,000 claimer? LONGSHOT-MAKE MINE REMY THIRD RACE 1-KNUCKLEBUSTER 2-TIPPETY TAP TAP 3-BELLINGHAM KNUCKLEBUSTER, a debuting Empire Maker colt who is related to stakes winners Chandtrue and Chandelle No. 5, has a sizzling 7-furlong work in 1:24 4/5 and could come out running for the Richard Mandella, Rafael Bejarano connection.Mandella has excellent stats with first time starters (26 per cent, $3.49 ROI) and first time turf (18 per cent, $2.96 ROI). TIPPETY TAP TAP ran a big race here opening week, closing strongly for second to the promising Squad. The Pleasant Tap gelding is the one to fear most. BELLINGHAM was a close third in a pair of turf sprints and now stretches out for Sadler and Rosario. She's out of multiplestakes winner Belleski. LONGSHOT-COMING THRU FOURTH RACE 1-SEACHI 2-BANANA CREAM PIE 3-DIAMOND JOURNEY
SEACHI takes a major drop from older $25,000 non winners of two lifetime to $12,500 n/w of two lifetime, three year olds only. The Sea of Secrets filly may be too quick for these. She comes out of a live race, from which Russian River returned to win again. BANANA CREAM PIE was claimed for$8,000 by Robertino Diodoro from Mike Mitchell May 1st. The Marino Marini filly split the field that day, but the double jump is a positive and she's reunited with Rosario, who was aboard for two of her three wins. 'BANANA has a 5 2-1-0 record at Hollywood Park and is the only entrant with a victory on Cushion Track. DIAMOND JOURNEY takes a big class drop and defeated BANANA CREAM PIE at SantaAnita in March. LONGSHOT-MISSILETTE FIFTH RACE 1-WEST RULER 2-TENACIOUS TENA 3-PINK LENINADE
WEST RULER is improving all the time for Sadler and hasn't peaked yet. She was a hard-trying third to multiple stakes winner Ultra Blend in a tough B. Thoughtful Stakes on Gold Rush Day. In her two turf sprints, she captured a state-bred allowance race in March and was second to stakes winner SeparateForest. Whoever named TENACIOUS TENA got it right. The Benchmark filly has taken three of four, including two at Hollywood Park, and is very difficult to contain when she makes the lead. She's been gone a long time, however, and moves to a cold stable. PINK LENINADE, a cleverly named daughter of Lemon Drop Kid and Soviet, won her debut in wire to wire fashion. She's one to watch regardless of theoutcome today. LONGSHOT-UP IN TIME
SIXTH RACE
1-DELUXE BUS 2-OMINOUS THOMAS 3-DANNY Q
DELUXE BUS dropped from special weights to a $30,000 maiden claimer, won the race and was claimed by Mike Mitchell.
