The Hole
A hole is defined as an opening through something and an area where something is missing. Holes are often used in negative terms because they consist of emptiness and are unknown. A holecan be simple and complex. It can be seen as simply an empty void defined by its surroundings or a complex system where the hole’s surroundings make up the hole because its contents are ultimatelynonexistent.
One can argue that a hole is only known by its surroundings because they set the boundaries for the hole that define its shape and existence. Because a hole consists of nothing visualit cannot be detected without its surroundings, therefore, a hole is its surroundings. The hole’s shape and size can be defined by its surroundings. A hole is constricted by its surroundings. Usingthis method to define a hole verifies that a hole is only an opening in which only the outer surroundings of the hole matter.
