The causes of bullying behavior
Introduction
Today many young people are victims of bullying. Year after year the cases are increasing. Bullying is a serious problem that exists mostly amongteenagers. This is causing so many young suicides. Bullying behavior can occur for many reasons, some of which are that the teens want to control those who are weaker than them, parents do not spend enoughtime with their children, and sometimes by emotional problems that these people have.
Teens often begin bullying because they want to control those who are weaker than they are. We have the exampleof the woman who was the victim of bullying on a bus in New York. According to the news “Bullies on the bus” by Charles M. Blow (2012), Karen Klein, a 68-year-old grandmother was relentlessly tormentedby a group of young boys. They hurl profanities. One boy tells her that she doesn’t have a family because “they all killed themselves because they didn’t want to be near you”. Mr. Blow wrote “thoseboys are us, or at least too many of us: America at its ugliest. It is that part of society that sees the weak and vulnerable as worthy of derision and animus”. Bullying gives young people anidentity-they become well- known in school. Because they see bullying as a way of being popular, or making themselves looks strong. According to the article “The trust about bullies” by James Lehman, bulliesstart out feeling like zeroes, like nobodies. When they intimidate, threaten or hurt someone else, then they feel like somebody. Bullying makes they feel powerful. The key is the feeling of power.Many of the children who are victims of bullying or bullies are children not receiving the necessary attention and affection from their parents. The first reason could be that in many
families, bothparents work outside the home. For this reason parents do not have time to pay attention to their children’s needs. This causes them to use bullying to have the attention of
