Sarah Bennett-singer/songwriter
1. - It was when I took part in the Prince’s Trust Sound Live Workshop. It gave me the experience of loads of different music styles which I’d never had thechance to explore before. And I was made to understand how hard I had to work to make it as a singer. I decided then I was going to give it 110% and I would practice until my fingers bled.
2. - Iwould say the hardest part is the life you’ve had to live to get the inspiration for your songs. I play some chords, which make me think of a time in my life, and I go into a kind of daydream and let thewords flow out.
3. - I started off doing the Big Note event-where anyone can sing-in Covent Garden. The guy who runs it let me do one song, which went down really well. So I started going every weekand I got more and more material together.
4. - Yes, it was called Inspiration. It only had one verse and one chorus. I just wanted to reach out to other people who shared my dream but didn’t havethe confidence to get up there and perform.
5. - Some of it comes from when I was younger. I used to read a lot of books and poetry. I’ve learned different ways to be descriptive and say thingssymbolically. All my friends get inspiration from anything.
6. - That’s hard. I would say Tracy Chapman and Tina Turner. They are really strong role models and they show that it doesn’t matter how badthings get, you can pull throw.
7. - To be able to get together with Bob Geldof and put together something like another Live Aid. I would like to do some good in the world with my gift for music. I thinksomething like that would be amazing. I hope that if I keep practicing, one day I will be good enough to work on a project like that.
8. - Practice, practice a lot. Follow your own gut instincts.Don’t get upset if you’re not ready to progress as quickly as other people. It will happen when it’s right for you. That’s all that matters-YOU! And remember to let your colors shine out bright!...
