In General, speaking, Leadership Value is the main point that will be discussed in this assignment. How creditable, respected and influential could Leader be in today’s economy for organizations? In order to develop this point the following issues will be looked at.
Base on the case study, with the company’s background one can infer that reading and understanding organizationalenvironment is not only consider a skill but also an art. “The art of reading situation” Nowadays, leaders must work in order to develop this skill as an intuitive process which is learnt thought experience.
This report will look at the connection between management and leadership and the role in today’s organizations. The case study will be an important tool to analyse the functions thatleaders so that they can performance in a positive way about specific challenges.
TRADITIONAL THEORIES OF LEADERSHIP
The traditional theories of leadership can be classify in two levels firstly that the leader born with the skills to lead and the differences between who are not and who are leader are; personality traits, physical and intellectual characteristics, on the another hand this theorycontempt that the leader can be make that the people can develop skills to be a leader, additionally, refers to the different roles that the leader can adopt such as: democratic, are those who to make decisions take into account the opinion of the followers; autocratic, are those who impose the decisions to the followers; laissez faire, are those who give freedom to the followers (Dessler andVarkkey, 2009).
SITUATIONAL LIDERSHIP
The model defines the existence of four possible leadership styles that indicate the level of control that a manager has on subordinates, and are called: Sort: characterized by giving specific instructions and closely monitor the development work. Persuade: characterized by subordinates explain the decisions already taken by the superior, while explaining theadvantages and or facility to fulfil what is asked.
Participate: characterized by the control share their ideas with their subordinates and to facilitate dialogue to reach an agreed decision as a whole and also planning together. Delegate: characterized by letting the subordinate partner-seen-the decisions on what to do to achieve the objectives of the institution in general and the workplace, ingeneral (Dent, 2010).
TRANSACTIONAL AND TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Management is the useful and efficient execution of directorial aspects. One of these is relate to the overall direction and leadership, in particular. It have to decide the differentiation among this leaders. In the first case are those who identify what they need subordinates to accomplish the objectives (Dent, 2010).Clarify the roles and tasks, establish an organizational structure, reward performance and take into account the common requirements of their followers.
Transformational leaders have a coherent vision and motivate their group. Likewise, have the ability to motivate, to shape the organizational culture and create a favourable atmosphere for change in the company (Hamel, 2002). There are some similaraspects between transformational and charming leaders, even if the former is notable particularly by promote original ideas.
CONTIGENT LEADERSHIP
It keeps the same assumptions that the situational approach, but goes further from the time: It Defines and specifies the variables involved in the situation. Look for the functional relationship between them. Help the manager or controller to knowthe leadership style that can be used as the organizational variables.
Although the contingency's theory is not easy to understand, it serves as a promising way which has been supported by many researchers (Hamel, 2002).
