sPast simple and past progressive.
1. Past simple of the verb “to be”. Fill in the gaps with “was” or “were”, “was not” or “were not”.
When I was a small child…

i. underline all the verbs in the past simple tense.

iii. Divide the verbs into regular and irregular.
LastSaturday, I got up at 5 o’clock in the morning and I made breakfast for the family. We ate arepas with yellow cheese and ham and we drank orange juice and coffee with milk. We did not eat cereal or toast. Then I went upstairs and got dressed. I went to work at the university but I did not take my children to school. I taught English until 12.30 pm when my partner fetched me in the car and wedrove home.
In the afternoon, I did not go to work but I visited my friends and we shared some beers. It was so hot and my daughter swam in their swimming pool. In the evening, we stayed home and watched tv.
On Sunday, I made a special Sunday lunch. This is an English tradition. In the afternoon, I ate some chocolate and read a book by Peter Stanstead called “The Devil- anautobiography.” It was a relaxing day.
