Introduction
In Chile, the Spelling Bee competition is directed by Edcamp Santiago that is place where teachers sharing knowledge with teachers, aprogram created by Mineduc Chile.
This competition is performed in three stages around the country this year:
1. Province
2. Region
3. Area
But this contest was performed in some schoolsaround the country for their own students too.
Now, this research paper will explain about what is a Spelling Bee, when it started in our country and the importance of the competition in Chile.

Point1: “What is a Spelling Bee?”
The Spelling Bee is a competition where contestants, usually children, are asked to spell words. This competition started in the United States of America but otherscountries around the world have adopted this contest like Canada, United Kingdom and Pakistan.
In some countries, this contest is very important so, it’s transmitting in television because it’s a nationalcompetition.
Point 2: “When did Spelling Bee start in our country? What are the requirements of the competition?”
The national contest is directed by Edcamp Santiago and Mineduc Chile with aprogram called “English opens doors”. This competition started this year at the national level, but some schools have realized Spelling Bees before.
The requirements for the students who want toparticipate are:
* They have to be students of 5° or 6° grade.
* Every school has a limit of 3 students in its group.
* Students must have studied two years in the establishment and have 5 electivehours of English for week.
If the school have this little requirements can be a part of the provincial competition and has the opportunity to advance to the next stage.
