C. with the rise of theRoman Empire. Mostly traded with gold, slaves, ivory and exotic animals for circuses in Rome in luxury goods exchange with Rome. In fact this is the time in which it exploits the very nameof Africa. After the defeat of Carthage by Rome in the Third Punic War established the Roman province of Africa cover about Tunisia today. It was a territorial generalization of the province which gave name tothe whole continent. Also crucial was the increased use of the camel from the first century in North Africa.
