Analysis of Twain’s “The Diary of Adam and Eve”
The first time you read the title of this story you can easily see that it is a very specific title which will give you a pretty good idea ofwhat the story is going to be about or what it is going to be focus on. As Mark Twain’s story title indicates it is basically about the life of Adam and Eve written by them in their respectively diaries.In which they wrote everyday everything that they felt, saw, their thoughts, how they are living and all the things that happened to them, basically everything or whatever they wanted to write about.We just learn anything regarding their lives through their diaries. In both diaries you can easily see their different in their points of views and their opinion. In the story you can clearly seethat it is divided in some different periods of time: in days, weeks, months and years to be more specific as time was passing simulating the day or the time in which Adam or Eve wrote in their diary. Sotherefore as the story goes on you can see the different problems or the things that the author attacks and critics. This story is actually Twain’s way of attacking and criticizing a lot of thingsvia Adam or Eve, but the ones I’m going to focus on this essay are the ones that are more present in the story like society or human condition to be more specific, principles or rules, love, fear,science and others.

In Adams’s diary you can see that he at first didn’t like Eve at all, he even though she was another new animal. “This new creature with the long hair is a good deal in theway. It is always hanging around and following me around. I don’t like this; I am not used to company. I wish it would stay with the other animals…” (Twain 325). After reading that, you can see that heconsidered her at first like an animal who talked a lot and bothered him and the other animals. He also preferred to be alone in the beginning. But then later, he says “…, I see that I was mistaken...
