She suggests that the communicationskills of human beings are much different from the ones of animals. While the essay states that animals don’t have the capacity to communicate the way we do, Angier also impliesthat they do have the capacity to drive a family together and make the bonds amongst it’s members stronger. She persuades her audience to value animals as family members,since they have the ability to transmit so many things to people. This essay might be the most specific and concise related to the topic of animal communication skills, since itinvestigates about various background information that prove Angier’s points. By incorporating real life examples that prove the complex animal communication skills, such aswhen Pamela Fields, a government specialist in United States-Japan relations says: “Even when we hate each other, we all agree that we love the dog. With this, she achieves hergoal of convincing her audience that animals are worth having in a family while describing the way we consider animals throughout time when she states that 10,000 years ago,dogs were among the first animals to be domesticated and that throughout time, they proved to be useful as hunting companions. Her description of how pets choose their owners,and owners don’t choose their pets, would touch the heart of every animal lover, since it gives life to animals, considering that they do have the potential to make decisions.
