UNIT I “HELLO”

Lesson 1
COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To greet and introduce oneself
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To use greeting words such as Hello, How are you? Good morning, etc., and the verb to be to introduce yourself, e.g. “I am Anna.” “My name is John.” To answer question How are you? Using words that show feelings. “I’m fine” “I’m happy.”

Lesson 2
COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
Tointroduce someone else
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To use he/she or this is to introduce a person (classmate).
E.g. “He is Martin.” “She is Laura.” “This is my friend.”

Lesson 3

COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To make polite requests
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To ask question requesting something. E.g. “May I stand up? Could you tell me…? Can I…?”

Lesson 4
COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To ask aboutsomeone´s age
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To introduce the question How old are you (is he/she)? To review the numbers from 1 to 10 and use the verb to be to refer to one’s age. “I’m 5.” “She is 9.”

Lesson 5
COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To talk about one’s family
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To ask and answer questions about one’s family regarding their age and feelings.

SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES
-The class sits orstands in circle. Use something small, like a tennis ball or a paper ball. Say your name and throw the ball to a students. This students says his name and throws the ball to another students. Play the game again, but this time students have to say the name of the person they are throwing the ball to.
-Have students talk about different ways of greeting a person in Mexico and other places they knowabout. Have them do a quick representation of it in front of the class.

UNIT II “MY SCHOOL”

Lesson 1
COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To identify classroom objects

LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To introduce vocabulary related to classroom objects. E.g. pencil, book, desk, chair, ruler, notebook, chalkboard, crayon, shelf, pen. To introduce the useof definite articles a/an. Students should use “It is a…” to name the objects.

Lesson 2
COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To answer questions about classroom objects and their color
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
Students should answer question What is this/that? Using the name of the object and color. “It’s a green shelf.” Students should recognize objects and answer yes/no questions and question of choice.“Is this a desk or a chair? Is this a blue pen?”

Lesson 3

COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To recognize different school items and people
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To introduce vocabulary related to school. E.g. table, lunch box, boy, clock, flag, office, restroom, principal, teacher, classmate, etc.

Lesson 4
COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To ask and answer questions about school material and createsentences using the new vocabulary.
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To use this/thas for singular nouns and these/those for plural nouns to create sentences using classroom vocabulary. E.g. “Those are books.” To answer question “What are these/those? They are crayons.”

Lesson 5
COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES
To understand and follow simple commands
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES
To follow commands that are related to theshape, color and size of the classroom objects. E.g. “Point to the red clock.” Etc..

SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES
-Have children play the game in groups of eight to ten. Each group forms a circle.
Start each group off by whispering a sentence or phrase (that includes classroom, objects, people, colors and school material) in one child’s ear.
That child turns to his/her right and whispers the phrasein the next child’s ear. The last child in the group says the phrase aloud. The team that gets the phrase more nearly correct wins.
