BJÖRN BORG
He was a tennis player from Sweden who is widely regarded by observers and tennis players as one of the greatest players in the sport's history. Between 1974 and 1981 won 11 Grand Slamsingle tittles.
Borg was born in Södertälje, in Sweden, and just before his 18th birthday he was the youngest winner of the Italian Championship. When Björn has 19th he make a David Cup record. Duringthe nine years that he played he won the 89.8% of the Grand Slam singles matches he played.
Björn Borg and Rafael Nadal are the only tennis players that have won both Wimbledon and the French Openin the same year.
His career started with a curiosity, he grows up in her village near Stockholm. His father won a table-tennis tournament and the prize was a golden tennis racquet, and Borg becamefascinated with this racket and his father gave it to him. Then he started to play tennis.
In 1982, with 26 years old, Borg played only one tournament and he lose in the quarterfinals. Nevertheless, heannounced in January 1983 that he was retiring from the game, shocking the entire tennis world. Lot of people tried unsuccessfully to persuade him to continue.
