I would like to be a part of Teach For America because the education gap penetrates many factors of society that effect the overallstandard of living and development of our country. Students are the future of our country, and it is of paramount importance that we work toward ensuring their success. Students in low-incomecommunities, typically, have less access to resources, which contributes to their inability to excel at the same rate as other students. I experienced this first hand, during the time I spent volunteeringin the Cobb County School District. Many of the students in the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program were eager to learn, but lacked the confidence needed to execute their success.I would be a resource to all students, encouraging them daily and letting them know that they can succeed.
As a corps member, I will facilitate the mission of Teach For America by lessening the gapand reaching for educational equality among all students. I possess the leadership abilities necessary to instruct a diverse student body that poses challenges due to individual requirements. In myclassroom, and in my school, I will provide all students with the knowledge they need to succeed. I will instill in them a confidence that they are able to pursue whatever dream they have;regardless of their heritage or where they reside. For those students who need tutoring, I want to be able to provide this type of support to them through TFA.( It is important to make sure that they do notfall through the cracks or something like that) Ultimately, I want to help these students grow and see them realize their dreams through their education.
