The common cold is a viral infection of the respiratory system, including the nose, throat, sinuses, Eustachian tubes, trachea, larynx, and bronchial tubes. Anyone can get a cold, although pre-school and grade school children catch them morefrequently than adolescents and adults.
It is not true that getting wet or being in a draft causes a cold (a person has to come in contact with the virus to catch a cold). These include:

* Living or working in crowded conditions

There are no medicines that will cure the common cold. However, pharmaceutical companies promoteproducts designed to relieve cold symptoms. These products usually contain antihistamines, decongestants, and/or pain relievers.
