Abstract

Nowadays, much is said about organ transplantation, although the issue is complex and little is known about this. We must learn to see the good we can do to others when our bodies when we no longer need them.
Being a donor means the only alternative formany people to continue living as they rely on others to give them a part of their body they no longer need. The transplant will help the patient who received the donation saved his life and regain his health. Deciding to be a donor means being willing to perform an act of altruism and solidarity.
The advance of science in the field of transplantation is one of the areas of medicine in whichprogress has been very high in short time.
In Mexico, are seven vital organs that can be donated and transplanted: the heart, lungs, liver, pancreas and both kidneys. In addition there is the donation and transplantation of tissues, although it is not vital, if substantially improve the quality of life of patients, examples: corneas, skin and bone, among others.
On average, 18 people die every daywhile waiting for organ transplants in Mexico, and every 10 minutes, another name is added to the waiting list.

What is an organ transplant?

It can be defined as an operation that allows replacement of a diseased organ with a healthy one, which returns or substantially changing the quality of life of a patient.
Removal of organs is a surgical procedure thatis performed in the operating room, and after the operation, the body remains the same, without disfiguring. The funeral, burial or cremation can be performed as desired.
Depending on the genetic relationship between the donor and the transplant recipient, can be:
+ Autologous -is when the donor and recipient are the same individual. This is the case of a person who suffers from its own skingraft.

+ Isotrasplante-When the donor and recipient are genetically identical, as in the case of identical twins (identical twins).

+ Allogeneic -When the donor and recipient are of the same species, but genetically distinct, between two human beings. Such is the case of transplantation between two unrelated humans.

+ Xenotransplantation or heterograft-When the donor and recipient are ofdifferent species, for example from pig to human, monkey or human.

"In addition to tissue transplantation spoken, obviously, a whole organ transplant (kidney, heart). Considered organs in transplantation may be of executive (one member, one kidney, heart) or central bodies or differentiation of the individual (brain, gonads).
A lot of Scientifics says that the tissues that can be transplantedare bone marrow, bone, cornea, heart valves and the umbilical cord blood, which extracts regenerate cells that allow blood components in cases of leukemia.

The attitude of the Religion forwards organ donation;
In general, the different religions do not oppose to the donation and transplantation of organs, even though some precepts in practice become impossible for such act is undertaken. Alsogenerally religions leave freedom of conscience to the faithful to decide on the issue and pronounced almost unanimously against the buying and selling of organs, highlighting the character of solidarity inherent in the donation. Some religions hold a controversial science with respect to the diagnosis of death and the time when it is considered that a person is deceased.
*Catholicism: understandsthe donation as an act of generosity and love toward neighbor.
*Protestantism: has campaigned in favor of organ donation within their philosophy of helping others in all areas. Protestants understood as an act of love sublime organ donation from a living person to another in need, but is not required to the religious community as something mandatory.
