UNIT 1. MATTER AND ITS TRANSFORMATIONS

Chemistry (química). It is the science that studies the matter, the changes being experienced and the energy involved in theseprocesses.
VOCABULARY ABOUT MATTER AND ITS TRANSFORMATIONS
Heat (Calor). It is energy in transit due to a change in temperature.
State Change (Cambio de estado). A substance changes from one state ofaggregation to another by an increase or decrease in temperature, or an increase or release of heat energy.
Compound (Compuesto). Pure substance that is unique in that it can be decomposed by chemicaltransformation into simpler substances.
Condensation (Condensación). Is the change from gas to liquid due to a decrease of temperature.
Deposition (Deposición). This change is inverse to the sublime,here the matter goes directly from solid to gas state without passing through the liquid.
Boiling or evaporation (Ebullición o Evaporación). Is the change from liquid to gas due to an increase intemperature.
Energy (Energía). It is the capacity of bodies or systems to develop a job.
Element (Elemento). Pure and simple substance that no longer can be transformed into something simpler.Physical state (Estado de agregación). Define how close the molecules are and how fast they move in a substance, there are three characteristic states: solid, liquid and gas that describe the physicalcondition that is the subject.
Fusion (Fusión). Is the change from solid to liquid due to an increase in temperature.
Gases (Gases). They are substances which have no definite shape or volume, theattractive force is minimal and its kinetic energy is greater because their molecules are very far apart.
Inertia (Inercia). Property of the bodies remain at rest or motion until a force change in thisstate.
Liquids (Líquidos). These are substances that have a definite shape by the container that contains, can flow, flow or drain because the molecules have a spatial position as fixed as in solids....
