ERASMUS PROGRAM
What is Erasmus Program?
It consists of a management plan for several public administrations through which students of the European Union, Switzerland and Turkey have academicmobility facilities.
The Dutch theologian and humanist Erasme of Rotterdam gave name to the student exchange program of the European Union. It started in 1987 and nowadays it moves nearly 200.000students per year in Europe. Furthermore, this network has been the basis of European Convergence University, which has led to the European Higher Education Area (Bologna).
What are its objectives?
To allow students to achieve educational, linguistic and cultural benefits through the experience of learning in other countries.
To promote cooperation between institutions and enrich theeducational institutions of the foreign countries.
To contribute to create a community of young well-qualified professionals with open minds and international experience.
Which kind of Erasmus Programcan you choose?
Studies exchange
The study period consists in carrying out a student exchange program in an educational institution of other European countries. When the exchange is over, the studentgets a certificate of the university exchange that will be recognized at his/her home university.
Practice exchange
Practice exchange is a stay in a company of a foreign country for several months.Its purposes are to have specific flair of social and economic environment of this country and at the same time, to achieve professional experience.
Organizations that offer a place for thepractice exchange students can be a company, an education centre, a scientific research centre and others.
What the requirements for apply the Erasmus grant are?
General requirements are:
Chosenstudents for Erasmus Program will have to take a university course during a period between three months and a year, although it usually takes an academic course.
