RESUMEN:
La parroquia Diego de Lozada, ubicada en el municipio Florencio Jiménez,
en la parte sur del estado Lara, presenta un alto potencial para el desarrollo
turístico, pero esta actividad se encuentra limitada, y para impulsarla se deben
considerarlas condiciones socioeconómicas del área, sus potencialidades físiconaturales y las limitantes vinculadas a estas variables. El objetivo de este
documento es identificar las potencialidades y restricciones en el aprovechamiento
de los recursos turísticos en la parroquia Diego de Lozada. Para ello se ha evaluado

una base de datos ambientales básicosconformada por la clasificación de los
tipos de paisajes, condiciones climáticas, hídricas y cobertura vegetal, y se
determinaron las principales características socioeconómicas de la población; se
identificaron las restricciones jurídicas y físico-naturales, y se representaron
espacialmente. Se encontró, como resultado del estudio, que las mayores
restricciones son de tipo jurídico (presenciade ABRAE) y en segundo lugar
amenazas naturales (hidrogeomorfológicas), que juntas restringen el 40% del
área total. A pesar de ello, el desarrollo de la actividad turística puede impulsarse
reforzando los servicios actuales de atención y recepción de la población visitante
(mejoramientos de la vialidad, alumbrado eléctrico público, restauración, creación
de infraestructuras de recepción,señalización de servicios y lugares), a fin de
consolidar las condiciones de calidad de vida de los habitantes del área y de la
población flotante o visitante.

ABSTRACT:
Diego de Lozada Parrish, located at Florencio Jiménez municipal area, in
the south of Lara State in Venezuela presents a high potentialfor touristic
development, but this activity is actually very limited. In order to enlarge it,
socioeconomic conditions of the area must be considered and also physical
natural potentialities and limitations associated with these variables. The objective
of the present work is to determine the restrictions to the use of touristic resources
in Diego de Lozada Parrish. In order to do so, theenvironmental basic data base
created for the classification of the different types of landscape, climatic
conditions, hydric and existing plant species data was used, and the main
socioeconomic, jurisdictional and physical natural restrictions were determined
and spatially represented. As a result, it was found that firstly, the main restrictions
are jurisdictional (ABRAE) and secondly naturaldangers (hydromorphological),
and that taken together these causes limit the use of 40% of the area. In spite of
these results, touristic development may be compelled by reinforcing the existing
services for the attention and reception of visiting populations (such as roads,
electric public services, restoration infrastructure, lieus and service reception
signaling) so as to consolidate theliving conditions of permanent residents and
of visiting populations.
