Gay Adoption

"I know that homosexuals cannot biologically reproduce children; therefore, they must recruit our children." This famous quote from Anita Bryant sums up her position on the gay adoption debate. AnitaBryant has been a well- known, yet controversial public figure in America for her popular “Save our Children” campaign against gay rights. Throughout her campaign in the late 1970’s she was able toabolish an amendment in Florida which granted gays and lesbians the same basic human rights as heterosexuals. Although decades later she is still labeled as a homophobic, she addresses gay adoptionwith a good point. Bryant cannot be disputed when she says that it is not part of gay couples’ biological nature to share a fruitful, loving union and having that in mind, gay couples take the role ofunfertile parents and vast majorities seek adoption. Although homosexual activists may argue that gay couples are equally fit to raise children as straight parents, there is sufficient evidence toprove otherwise. The risk of molestation, risk of becoming homosexuals and of having psychological problems, are most likely to be found at more consistent rates within families with gay parents.

If we are sitting in a restaurant eating, she'll say, 'I want you to know about all these sexthings.' And she'll go on about everything, just shouting it out.... Sometimes when mum embarrasses me, I think, 'I wish I had a dad.' ... Been to every gay pride march. Last year, while attending, wewent up to a field ... when two men came up to us. One of them started touching me. I didn't want to go this year because of that." The excerpt above was narrated by a 12 year old boy from the UnitedKingdom.
