Adventure films are a genre of film.[1] Unlike pure, low-budget action films, they often use their action scenes preferably to display and explore exotic locations in an energetic way.[2]

The subgenres of adventure films include, swashbuckler film, disaster films, and historical dramas - which is similar to the epic film genre. Main plot elements include quests for expedition and lostcontinents, a jungle and/or desert settings, characters going on a treasure hunts and heroic journeys for the unknown. Adventure films are mostly set in a period background and may include adapted stories of historical or fictional adventure heroes within the historical context. Kings, battles, rebellion or piracy are commonly seen in adventure films.[

The adventure film reached its peak of popularityin 1930s and 1940s Hollywood, when films such asCaptain Blood, The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Mark of Zorro were regularly made with major stars, notably Errol Flynn and Tyrone Power, who were closely associated with the genre.

Piratas del caribe Pirates of the Caribbean is a multi-billion dollar Walt Disney franchise encompassing a series offilms, a theme park ride, and spinoff novelsas well as numerous video games and other publications. The franchise originates with the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, which opened at Disneyland in 1967, the last Disney theme park attraction overseen by Walt Disney. Disney based the ride on ancient Spanish and Portuguese sailing legends and folklore. In 2003, Depp's comments about the United States appeared in Germany's Stern magazine: "America is dumb, is something like a dumb puppy that has big teeth — that can bite and hurt you, aggressive."[66] Although he later asserted that the magazine misquoted him and the quotation was taken out of context, Stern stood by itsstory, as did CNN.com in its coverage of the interview. CNN added his remark that he would like his children "to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out."[67] The July 17, 2006 edition of Newsweek reprinted the "dumb puppy" quotation, verbatim, in the context of a Letter to the Magazine. Depp has also disagreed with subsequent mediareports that perceived him as a "European wannabe", saying that he likes the anonymity of living in France and his simpler life there.
