1. What was the more pivotal reform the Taiwanese government carried out in the early stages on their country’s development?
Taiwan is located in East Asia and is a capitalist economy. From 1750’s,the land reform has impacted a lot of countries, especially for those third world countries who were trying to achieve economic development, one of them was Taiwan. Thanks to the Taiwanese government,who embraced global capitalism, the redistribution of land, opened the doors from globalization. Having the ownership of the land, people were able to, start business and make profit of it. Alsoaround 1960’s manufacturing industries were a success and it encouraged the small and medium industrial business. Now Taiwan trades with China, USA, Japan, Australia and other countries from Asia.2. How this reform did change the structure of their economy?
Well since Taiwan growth so rapidly thanks to the industrialization, the land reform, and they were part of the capitalist system, thepeople who decided to sell and make profit of their lands were fully protected by the market; also the bank, with the support of the government, loaned credits and subsides for people. All these arepart of the capitalism economic system. Also since Taiwan was growing so fast, it leaded to innovation, improving people’s life, making their own trending and be able to afford education. We have toremember that the ideology of the capitalism was brought by Adam Smith, saying that the government does not have control over markets and property rights.
3. The documentary demonstrates the benefitsthat multinational companies have brought upon Vietnamese economy. However, can you think of at least 2 negative aspects regarding the impact these companies had to, on the Vietnamese economy?
