The HAARP Effect:
What happens when man tries to alter Mother Nature? Is it normal for the human race to try to do things out of the ordinary to the point where it interacts with every person’s daily life without them even knowing it? Sounds like it could be a conspiracy, but is it? Or is it real? Many ofthese questions can be a concern for people, but for others they can be reasons to seek more information to find out what this concept is all about.
About two decades ago, a group of scientists and physicists administered a project through the U.S. Air Force and Navy. They came to name this project HAARP, which is an acronym for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program. It consists of anarray of antennas and frequency transmitters that are located in Gakona, Alaska.
The type of research that is explored through HAARP is the study of natural processes occurring in the ionosphere- a layer in the upper atmosphere- and the enabling of interactions during warfare, such as subsurface communications. The inventors of HAARP intend to fulfill these studies, but there have been doubts asto whether or not this project has come to affect the planet as a whole in a negative aspect; which raises the question, what is it that makes society think that the HAARP is harming the earth? There must be reasons as to why people are doubting the intentions and purpose of the project and just like the many who agree that it isn’t harmful, there are others who believe that this project isn’tthe kind of “haarp” that is played by the angels.
Human’s Bright Idea:
A New Take on Technology
The High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is a running project that has been administered by the US Air Force and Navy, since 1990. Since its creation, it has captured many people’s attention. Being technologically advanced, it is one of the strongest HF transmitters in the world andit has brought forth a one of a kind ionospheric research facility. Observations are done on only a part of the upper atmosphere, and experiments done here are available for mostly U.S. scientists from different universities, private sectors, and the government to examine. The goal that this project hopes to attain is to dispense a research facility where one can evaluate experiments in theionospheric phenomena. Once information has been collected from these experiments, it will be used to study the properties of the ionosphere and look into the possibility of improving the technology for future developments in communication and surveillances (HAARP, 2007).
The road to fully constructing the HAARP was not easy. The program started in 1990, and it was not fully constructed until 2007.For it to take seventeen years to accomplish the major construction of the facility, it must mean that this isn’t something small. According to the HAARP’s web page, it states that the antenna array is formed by 180 individual antennas, each being 72 feet tall, occupying 35 acres of land. Along with the antenna array, there is a high frequency (HF) transmitter that is operated when researchcampaigns want to conduct a responsive ionospheric experiment. Both the antenna array and the transmitter, working together have the capacity to radiate power up to about 3,600 kilowatts (HAARP, 2011) which is about the same amount of power that is used to light up four soccer stadiums.
Some people however are not necessarily pleased with how the project works exactly. Research done by Nick Begich(2001), a doctor who also serves as a speaker for European parliament, found that these transmitting frequencies channel an electromagnetic ray into the ionosphere in the upper atmosphere. These waves then rebound back onto the Earth, risking the effect that if these waves are over a few thousand watts they can create geophysical events within the earth. All the energy transmitted into the atmosphere...
