IT POINTS OUT HISTORICAL:
The area of influence of the Hospital Tunal III Level, Social Company of the State, is the District of Santa Faith of Bogotá, concentrating its biggest demand potential of users of health on the Local Mayor's offices of Tunjuelito, Usme, Rafael Uribe Uribe, San Juan of Sumapaz and City Bolívar, in which an approximate population of 2.300.000 ofinhabitants exists.
The Hospital was conceived and built in development of the city program Bolívar, which was generated by an international agreement taken place among the Mayor's office bigger than Bogotá and the Interamerican Bank of Development - IDB, the one that not only included programs of health but rather it advanced housing projects through the Box of Popular Housing of the District, of Roadsand Public works through the Secretary Distrital of Public Works, of Social Well-being through the Administrative department of Social Well-being Distrital and of Public Services, among other positions of E.T.B., E.E.B. AND E.A.A.B.
The initial project of the Hospital Tunal was based on the construction of a center hospital poliambulatorio, which consisted of four plants and with the services ofsupport diagnosis and necessary treatment for its operation. In the period (1988-1990) the construction of two plants and of the main support services, diagnosis and treatment, it generated problems of scarce number of hospital beds, lack of appropriate endowment and of human enough resource.
In the year 1990 by means of the Agreement Distrital No.20 the Hospital Tunal was classified asinstitution of third level of attention, considering its geographical location and the necessities of highly specialized services of health essentially in the population of the area of next influence.
It was inaugurated in May of 1990 and given to the service September of the same year 15. From then on their Directors have been: (1). Daniel Escallón (2). Juan Manuel Uribe Díaz (3). The offered first services were External Consultation, Clinical Laboratory, Gyneco-obstetrics, Physiotherapy and Surgery.
In January of 1991, the community could use the services of Hospitalization and Pediatrics. In theyears 1993 - 1994, with financing of the Mayor's office bigger than Bogotá, The Institute of Urban Development and the Secretary Distrital of Health, was built the pathology unit and the building for the operation of the Department of Supplies and General Services.
In 1995 as consequence of a cofinancing project taken place among the Fund of Social (FIS) Investment, The National Hospital Fund andthe Secretary Distrital of Health, the floors third and quarter (84 hospital beds), the amplification of the area of surgery rooms and recovery, the unit of cares intensive adults and the unit of cares intensive neonative were built, among other.
In 1997-1998 it becomes Social Company of the State, giving opening to the room of childbirths, ICU of Adults, ICU Neonatal, Bank of Blood and itbegins the project of the area of Support Diagnosis.
In 1998-1999, the surgery rooms are enlarged with the construction of a new room and the adaptation of another for a total of seven (7) surgery rooms.
In 1999-2000, the first are remodeled I step south wing and you wide the hospital capacity in 17 new beds for a total of 165 hospital beds., and equally the construction of the administrative newheadquarters the one begins which entered in operation in the month of March of the 2001.
At the present time the Hospital works intensely in the modernization of its areas, so much office workers, as assistance in order to responding to the changes of the new social security system in health implemented by the law 100 of 1993 and its regulation norms.
