La Musica A Traves Del Tiempo

The evolution of special effects in Films has gotten to the point where they are more important than the movie itself. Is something similar happening with music?

Over the last few years, thanksto new technologies and computer programs, the production of films and documentaries has incorporated special effects as a main tool to catch the attention of viewers. Nonetheless, this improvementhasn't been incorporated into films only, but also in the production of music, which has been modified in a certain way because of the increase of special effects put on records, mainly on pop andelectronic records. Faced with this fact, we must ask ourselves if those effects are placed before the artistic product itself, that is, the message that both a song and a movie try to convey.

To betterunderstand the degree in which these added complements have created reactions or even changes in the way people see the value in an artistic product, we must look to the past. Undoubtedly, during the20th century, bands like The Beatles reached world-wide success thanks to a variety of factors such as their lyrics, the creation of a new style (the way of singing, dressing and presenting themselvesin front of an audience), and little by little they started distinguishing themselves above others, without the need of the special effects used nowadays in records by Lady Gaga, Kesha and other popartists that are "in" right now. Anyways, I don't think the content itself, what the artist is trying to convey in a song or movie, could be devaluated by these new effects.

In general, and indifferent areas of life, people make their decisions based on feelings and different interpretations of the situations. Even though sometimes we try to avoid our own feelings because they make us dothings that maybe don't fulfil the expectations of those around us, they always end up influencing our decisions.
