Rules of Soccer (shortened)
Penalties
* It’s a type of free kick taken from twelve yards out from your opponents goal with only the kicker and the goalkeeper
* You receive this kick only ifyour opponent commits a foul on you punishable with a free kick within their own penalty area (also known as the box) or a an opponent commits handball (touching the ball from the shoulder down)
*When you kick the ball it’s officially in play and all other players may enter the penalty area and the game continues as normal (unless you score, then you restart)
* The penalty mark is a whitering which is located 12 yards from the goal
* As penalty kicker must give a clear signal to the referee that you are the penalty kicker
Throw-ins
* A throw-in is taken when the ball crossesa sideline and leaves the field
* The two basic soccer rules for a proper throw-in are to have both feet on the ground and to throw the ball with both hands over the head
Direct and IndirectFree Kicks
* A direct kick you can score by kicking the ball directly into the goal
* An indirect kick you cannot score. An indirect kick must be touched by another player before it can go intothe goal – that is the kicker and a second person
* A direct kick comes from a contact foul or hand ball
* Everything else is indirect
Yellow and Red Cards
* This is the way punishmentis given in soccer
* The FIFA soccer rules give the guidelines for when to give a yellow card to a player and when to give a red card (these are for what types of fouls are considered what)
*If a player is given two yellow cards in the same game, that is equal to a red card
* A red card can be given at any time without the player first receiving a yellow card but when a player gets ared card, they must leave the game and their team must play short
* An ejected player cannot be replaced or on the sidelines
