PROLOGUE

I’m well aware that trademarks have become a necessity for products to win over the trust of consumers, since they are a mean of guaranteeing that the product is of a certain quality according to what they are used to from past experiences with that trademark. And this is how trademarks can become the faces of a business orenterprise. I’m a student of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Chihuahua’s law school, currently studying through my final semester, and during my course on Intellectual Property we began the study of trademarks. We saw various aspects of them, like the types and characteristics, and we reached the study of notorious and famous trademarks. However, we only studied but a small portion of all there isto know about them and that left place for me to make an investigation about them that I could enjoy to a certain extent. It is true that this is but a final paper that is requisite of the course, and it is also true that I didn’t get to select the subject. But I consider myself to be lucky to have been assigned to the study of notorious and famous trademarks because they are actually veryinteresting, and I can guarantee that I wrote this paper after investigating and that I did give proper thought to what I was writing. Therefore I hope that whoever reads it can find it useful and maybe a little enlightening and interesting.
