MUSEO DOLORES OLMEDO
Located in Xochimilco, south of Mexico City, the Museum Dolores Olmedo building occupies an old Hacienda "La Noria", whose construction dates from thelate sixteenth century.
You can come to the museum by bus. Were recommend taking the subway and Taxqueña station, re-take the light rail and get off at La Noria and is justwalking two blocks to the left, that is more security and faster.
Knowing the Museum
It is construction is colonial and there is a large garden, where some animals like:peacocks, ducks and Mexican dogs. In it esplanade is mounted a show of Mexican music on Sunday alone.
To this place, Nowadays turned into Museum it was known, first as Tzonmolco or "Colina que desiende", later it was named Coatitlán or " Lugar de Serpientes" and finally it received the name of La Noria.
The museum is famous for its gardens. We can observe 20species of trees and plants of Mexican origin as La Dalia, El Maguey or El Tecojote; also we find Bugambilias, Alcatraces, and Pirules;
In the museum there are Diego’simportant collections and Frida Kahlo, There are Angelina Beloff's important works, who was a girlfriend of Diego during his permanency in Europe.
There are different rooms ofdifferent archaeological cultures of Mexico; some carved wooden saints and an amazing collection of folk art from various Mexican states. Also there is a room also showing somepersonal things.
In the museum mounted exhibitions of important national and international artists.
In addition, the site offers weekend performances (including the visitor'sticket), art workshops for various ages and guided tours. It has a nice cafeteria and store-bookstore. You can buy some
Books, souvenirs and handmade things in the store-book store.
