The importance of supervision in psychotherapy as a professional activity has been well documented (Hess, 1980 Hess, 1987; Stoltenberg and Delworth, 1987). Studies on the vicissitudes to obtain orprovide supervision in practice Private (Kaslow, 1986; Hall, 1989). Yet in as to the apparent importance of monitoring, there a lack of literature concerning the documentation supervisors' oversightactivities. There are no guidelines about the nature of what should register or generally accepted models for the documentation process. This is true Despite the great sensitivity of psychologists towardneed to document other events professional services such as psychotherapy or evaluation (Hall, 1988a; Woody, 1988) and their knowledge of potential ethical and legal risks associated to supervision(Slovenko, 1980; Hall, 1988b). The three articles in this symposium are designed to provide guidance to the question documentation of supervision. To define what is the proper documentation maybe wecan say that it is organized and registration coherent events and processes supervision. This register is tangible report supervision as we have experienced the supervisor. While a report of this typecan viewed from essimistic view as an attempt calculated from the supervisors to protect their own interest, a much more positive and balanced is to realize that the documentation is to serve theinterests of all stakeholders in supervision. It is true that a report monitoring is documented in the impressions of supervisor, but it also serves as a tool to protect the supervisee as a ofprecechronological report of the periodic assessments made the supervisee, the development of skills and treatment activities. The report also serves to protect the patient being treated at document the initialassessment supervisor, the impressions and treatment recommendations.
