In this job, I will talk to ex-presidents that passed at USA. The one is the 8th president what is Martin van Buren. The second is the 23th who is Benjamin Harrison. For third-last, Warren G. Harding who is the 29th president. To those presidents, I have explained what made each president; then I going to made one picture for a one presidents what I like. Martin Van Buren was born December 5, 1782 in Kinderhook, New York to Dutch parents. He grew up there his whole life. For school he went to Kinderhook Academy. His father's name was Abraham Van Buren and he was a farmer and a tavern keeper. Martin's mother's name was Maria Hoes Van Buren and she died oftuberculosis. He was married to Hannah Hoes who was born in 1783 and died in 1819 at the age of 35 of tuberculosis. He had four children; Abraham Van Buren, John Van Buren, Martin Van Buren and Smith Thompson Van Buren. He attended a village school within his Dutch community called Kinderhook Academy. When he was sixteen years of age he appeared in courts to observe the cases. He learned a lot from thesecases and they taught him to think quickly and to be resourceful in an argument (Hoyt 10). After graduating from them he became a law clerk, and soon after entered the practice in 1803 (Martin Van Buren). In 1807 he was married for twelve years before his wife, Hannah Hoes, died.
Before he was President he had jobs as a leader. His regular job was a lawyer. He was also New York State Senator from1813 to 1815. He became New York State Attorney General from 1815 to 1819. He worked as a United States Senator from 1821 to 1829. He served as the Governor of New York in 1829. He was Secretary of the State from 1829 to 1831 and the Minister to England in 1831. He became Vice President from 1832 to 1837.
Martin Van Buren was the 8th President. He became President in 1837 and served one term to1841. He was a Democrat and he won the election by 224,175 popular votes and 117 electoral votes. He ran against William H. Harrison. His Vice President was Richard M. Johnson.
He said that the two happiest days of his life were his entrance into the office of President and his surrender of the office. While his political opponents were glad to see him go - they nicknamed him "Martin Van Ruin" -many Americans were not. Even though he lost the 1840 presidential election, Van Buren received 40,000 more votes than he had in his 1836 victory. In subsequent years, historians have come to regard Van Buren as integral to the development of the American political system.
Here are some of the major happenings that occurred when Martin was President. The panic of 1837 was when thousands of banksfailed in the United States. Also he was President during one of the worst depressions of history that began in 1837 and almost Van Buren began showing the qualities that would eventually take him to the pinnacle of American politics—and earn him a bevy of admirers as well as critics. New York State’s Democratic - Republican Party.
Declaring that the panic was due to recklessness in business andoverexpansion of credit, Van Buren devoted him to maintaining the solvency of the national Government. He opposed not only the creation of a new Bank of the United States but also the placing of Government funds in state banks. He fought for the establishment of an independent treasury system to handle Government transactions. As for Federal aid to internal improvements, he cut off expenditures socompletely that the Government even sold the tools it had used on public works.
As a New York politician, he set about building a political organization of his fellow Democratic-Republicans that stressed unity, loyalty, and fealty to Jeffersonian political principles. Gradually, Van Buren moved from the New York State Senate, to the New York attorney general's office, and then to the U.S....
