Introduction

Along this text we are going to talk about PET bottles, PET manufacturing process, and the machinery necessary to produce PET, because PET now days is avery common material that has various uses. PET was patented on 1941 and since that day mankind has been using it. We are going to explain the three blow molding PET process that we are going to use to produce PET bottles. PET Plastic is an ideal polymer for use in plastic packaging applications. It is already established as the preferred polymer for many applications, such as pressurized containersfor CSD and mixer drinks, custom containers for many food and non-food applications, high quality injection-moulded containers for outlets such as cosmetic and perfumery and sheet extrusion for use in both clear and crystalline containers as well as clear display packaging. PET will continue to build a market share in these areas at the expense of existing materials. It also has strength in manythin film applications. New and innovative developments that are currently being worked on across the whole manufacturing and processing chain, such as improved barrier and cast foam products, will allow newer end-use applications to be identified.

WHAT IS PLASTIC PET?

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family. Polyethylene terephthalate is apolymer that is formed by combining two monomers called modified ethylene glycol and purified terephthalic acid.
PET Plastic is a very important raw material used in man-made fibers. PET is a lightweight form of clear polyester and also a very strong material. Being a polymer, polyethylene terephthalate's molecules consist of long chains of repeating units only containing the carbon (C), oxygen(O) and hydrogen (H) organic elements.
In world’s total PET production, 60% is for synthetic fibers with bottle production accounting for around 30% of global demand.
In textile applications PET is generally referred as "polyester".
USE OF PLASTIC PET
PET is mostly used in packaging applications for food and non-food products.
PET is used in:
Synthetic fibers such as beverage, food and otherliquid containers.
Thermoforming applications.
Engineering resins often in combination with glass fiber.

ADVANTAGES OF PET PLASTICS

Plastic PET food packaging continues to grow fastest among major food container types. Performance advantages ofPET and polypropylene include improved resin and processing technologies, improved heat resistance, and advances in panel-less hot-fill bottle design. Combined, these developments enhance the look of the container while achieving an appearance more like glass bottles.
PET exists both as an amorphous (transparent) and as a semi-crystalline (opaque and white) thermoplastic material. PET can besemi-rigid to rigid, depending on its thickness, and is very lightweight. It makes good resistance to mineral oils, solvents and acids but not to bases. It is strong and impact-resistant. It is naturally colorless and transparent.
