SOCIAL NETWORKS: GOOD OR BAD?


Around 1995, the social networks appear when Randy Conrads creates the website classmates.com. The objective of this network is to enable people to regain ormaintain contact with their classmates, college, university, etc.

Nowadays, social networks have rapidly advanced on the Internet. These social networks have many advantages and disadvantages. On theone hand, these can allow the users to keep in touch with their family, old friends, classmates, purchase several things (clothes, food, electrical appliances, travel plans, etc.), read and writereviews, vote for their favorite products, meet people with similar interests and, of course, you can buy several products in major stores with just one click. This trend has a name, called Shopping 2.0.But on the other hand, all these social networks have a big problem, as many researchers say. For example, many facebook’s fanatics have in their profiles very important information about them(city, school, work background, etc.) and this can be dangerous because many unknown people has access to this information, and they can use it to do bad things compromising not only the privacy but muchmore. All people enter their personal information without to know the consequences. Kidnappers, thieves, murderers, among others, can easily recognize their candidates, where they live, study, travel,and who are their parents, siblings and friends.

It is truth that Internet is important to us, but the right use can avoid us many problems in our lives. The most affected are the children whosedo not know the danger of the social networks. Our privacy is ours; do not share it with unknown people.
