C)Synopsis
The story begins when Christopher, who lives in Swindon, found a dead dog in the neighbor’s house. The woman, Mrs. Shears see Christopher and she thinks that he has killed her dog,Wellington. Then, the police arrives and arrest Christopher.
Christopher wants to find who killed Wellington. He wants to write a book about the happening. And he interviews all the neighbors. But Mrs.Shears call Christopher’s father because she don’t want that he investigate in her garden. The father doesn’t want that he continues with the investigation. Then, Mrs. Alexander explains Christopher thathis mother, who is supposedly dead, and Mr. Shears were very good friends. They had an affair.
The father (Ed) discovers that Christopher is writing a book and they have an argument. And the fatherdrops the book into the dustbin. Then, Christopher wants to find his book. And he looks inside the dustbin. But it wasn’t there.

Finally, the book was in his father’s bedroom. There, Christopherdiscovers an envelope address to him. And it had never been opened. Christopher hid the envelope underneath his mattress. And later, he opens the envelope and reads the letter. It was a letter of hismother. The postmark was 18 months after his mother died. He finds 43 envelopes more. And he reads all letters. In which she explains that one day she decided to leave home because she couldn’t take thesituation longer. She escaped with Roger, Mrs. Shears’s husband. Then Christopher knows that his mother hasn’t a heart attack, and she hasn’t died. And his father had lied about this. Ed discoversChristopher reading the letters.
