Introduction
Nowadays there has been a resurgence of interest in single-sex education. This revival illustrates the result of different researches that have demonstrated that single-sex educationincreases diversity and gender intensification. Moreover, single-gender classrooms boost grades and tests supported by evidence-based strategies. However, it is not enough to separate them since it isnecessary to understand their different learning processes that are based not only in their brain evolution, which has different sequence in boys and girls, but also in their social conditions. Due toall above, the number of single-sex schools has increased.
Even though single-gender education has many positive aspects, co-education also offers different advantages. First of all, students learnhow to socialize with the opposite sex which helps them to develop their social skills properly. Also, pupils are exposed to a wide range of diversity in terms of personalities, likes and dislikes,interests among others. Furthermore, co-ed fosters students to be prepared to face a more realistic scenario where women and men coexist together. According to what has been said, co-ed also qualifiesas a competent educational system.
After comparing both educational systems, it is possible to say that although co-ed schools have some advantages, single-sex schools have demonstrated theireffectiveness. Despite of the fact that women and men have equal conditions regarding society, several researches have proved that each sex has different needs to be considered in order to upgrade theircapacities. This is why the percent of single-sex schools in many countries, such us Australia, England, New Zealand, Korea, and Chile, remains higher than the rest of the world. Besides single-sexclassrooms addresses unique learning styles and interests of boys and girls.
