The Mayan civilization inhabited a vastregion knows as Mesoamerica. The territory now compromised of five states in southeastern Mexico in this territory hundreds of dialects spoken today generate about 44 different Mayan languages. Speakingof ¨Ancient Maya¨ to refer to the history of one of the most important pre-Columbian
Mesoamerican cultures, because his legacy is a worldwide scientific and astronomical. Priestly groups, were ofgreat importance in the govemment of the Classic Maya states,in spite of that, they were never leaders.There was a noble class and in any case,were the warriors who concentrated power.The image of theMaya as a society ruled by priests was demolished when it was discovered that the cities were in constant war with each other .
